About Ford
Ford Motor Company’s story began in 1903 with the production of a small number of automobiles within a converted factory through the use of teams that would manually assemble each car. Soon, Ford introduced the assembly line to their business and this allowed for the mass production of the Model T in 1908, which soon proved to be extremely popular. In the 1920’s and 1930’s, Ford began creating new lines such as the Mercury and purchased the Lincoln Motor Company in order to compete with other companies and diversify their portfolio. Through the early 1900’s, Ford also oversaw business expansion overseas as they entered foreign markets. In the 1950’s, Ford also began building laboratories and got involved with superconductivity research and development. Leading into the 21st century, Ford continued to develop and grow their business, becoming a highly successful automotive company. In the early 2000’s and 2010’s, Ford faced some struggles with the automotive industry and 2008 financial crisis, and during this time, Ford began restructuring their businesses with the sale of multiple divisions. Currently, Ford is moving forward with their Mustang line, as well as taking initiative to expand in the electric and self driving vehicle sectors.
