Auxiliary Power Units (APUs)
Pratt & Whitney provides auxiliary power units that are used in conjunction with gas turbine engines on turboprop, turbofan, and turboshaft powered aircraft. They are an additional energy source that can be used to power an engine in an emergency, or to power accessory components when the engine is off.

Turbofan Engines
A propulsion system that consists of turbomachinery including a core engine, rear turbine, and additional fan. Air that enters the fan and fan turbine has a higher velocity and is bypassed around the engine. This approach generates additional thrust on the same amount of fuel as a standard gas turbine engine. Most commercial and military jets utilize turbofan engines of some variety.
